Clemson and Anderson SC photography | shooting a shooter!

April 28th, 2010 , Posted in Uncategorized

Last weekend my longtime internet friend Sherri Winstead was able to spend a few days visiting me. Sherri and I have “known” each other since 1998 when we were both worked on a scrapbooking design team, and then as we both moved to professional photography businesses. Our friend Michelle Haley from Atlanta was able to come for a day as well. We spent a lot of time talking about  the stress/rewards of photography as a business and making it all balance in terms of profitability versus the sheer number of hours worked and expenses involved. One thing we all lamented was the fact that we don’t shoot “for fun” as much as we’d like.  So Sherri and I spent one full day just taking our cameras and shooting in all sorts of locations and lighting conditions – mostly crazy full overhead sun – and fine tuning some techniques such as off-camera flash using each other for feedback ( and models!).  Sherri needed some updated images for her website, so I was happy to oblige. Here is my favorite on of her, taken in a clearing under some power lines that is the closest thing to a field that I have nearby – flash used on this one because of the bright sun-

Then we actually did a child photo shoot together, and it was interesting to see what THAT looks like from the perspective of the client! This was one Sherri got of me:

And I did some of her:

And  what WE see when we’re doing this-

Jessie & Darin | engagement session

April 21st, 2010 , Posted in Uncategorized

Jessie & Darin are getting married in September, and since she actually operates a bridal shop, the planning is going pretty smoothly. Guess what she said was the hardest part so far? Umm, the DRESS! Jason and I are going to have so much fun with these two – they already have some very cool and fun ideas for their Big Day, and I know it will be very special to photograph. Just look at their engagement session!

South Carolina Newborn Photography | meet Luci

April 19th, 2010 , Posted in Uncategorized

So remember the maternity session from a few weeks ago (here) ? Well, Miss Lucianna Rose arrived safely and landed sweetly in her parents happy arms! She was a tiny little peanut for our session, but definitely showed her little personality already! We spent some time playing with putting her into some of the props I had, because, hey, isn’t that half the fun of having a baby girl? :) I seriously wanted to tuck her into my bag & take her with me.

First Holy Communion Session / photography in Clemson & Anderson SC

April 15th, 2010 , Posted in Uncategorized

Love the Springtime for all of its brand-new beauty and freshness, and I always thought it was a perfect time of year for First Communions. We had beautiful weather for Abby’s session, so although I normally just do studio shots for these I couldn’t help but venture outside for a few as well.

TL Hanna High School Class of 2011 // Meet Arden

April 13th, 2010 , Posted in Uncategorized

I love, love, love photographing high school seniors! They are so much fun, and up for anything when it comes to cool locations. Arden was no exception. We had a pretty good day except for WIND, which created havoc with her hair while we were doing the shoot. Fortunately, I think it just made the images that much more casual, fun, and real! I have waaaay too many that I love to show them all here, so I just selected the first few to post -

In Appreciation

April 5th, 2010 , Posted in Uncategorized

Now more than ever, there are a vast array of choices for those who wish to photograph their children and families. You can get “a really good camera” and do it yourself. You can go to a volume chain studio, like Sears or Portrait People. You can use your neighbor/friend/coworker who is a serious hobbiest, or you can use someone who just started in business and will give you a low rate and a whole cd of images. You can go to an established studio. You can maybe do all of these at various times, depending on your needs.

But you choose Casual Moments Photography, time after time, and I am humbled and honored that you do.

I am continually trying new and better products to give you an experience that is well worth the extra costs associated with using a custom photographer. I want to make sure that you have quality far above what others can give you. I continually strive to keep my costs and expenses as low as I can and still remain in business (!), and I know that all of you understand that. But I do feel like I need to give back and reward all of you for your continued support and appreciation  even in the face of other options – so here is a special offer for my wonderful, valued, and appreciated clients!
