I sell digital files because that is what my clients prefer; they understand that the value of an image lies in its creation, and they love the freedom that purchasing the digital files gives them. They are free to use the digital files to make their own cards or gifts, and print endless copies of their images for themselves and their families.
That freedom can be a blessing – or a curse!
Because they may be subjected to lots and lots of requests from friends and relatives for prints. And because that can take lots and lots of time. Calls and emails back and forth from Grandma or second cousins about which picture, which size, etc., not to mention the expense of printing dozens of pictures and mailing them, can make you regret showing them in the first place!
Fortunately, I have an option for you that allows you to hand off that whole problem!
You can have relatives order and pay for their OWN prints without any additional work on your part, simply by supplying them the link and password that I will give you after you purchase your collection. It allows them to order directly from my lab via the download site; the prices are a little more than consumer labs but very reasonable & inexpensive for a professional print.
Of course, you don’t HAVE to do this. You can still print your images at mpix.com and save even more. Most people are happy to order prints themselves and gift them to loved ones. It’s just a nice option to have if you are juggling a lot of tasks or dealing with long distances (or a difficult relative, lol!).
I make sure that it’s as easy as possible to get prints from your session files – I supply them already cropped into 5×7 and 8×10 sizes, have them available for immediate download as soon as you order and send payment (as well as send you a CD in the mail), and provide a step-by-step tutorial to ordering through mpix if you are unsure of how to do it.
