I’ve been a pro photographer for almost thirteen years, and a working mother for much longer than that. My client photos from 2004 to the present are meticulously organized and backed up. So you would think that if ANYONE had their personal photo collections organized, it would be me, right?
Now, to be fair, it could be much worse. I at least have all of my photos intact and semi-together in albums and boxes, and after I went digital (around 1999 or so) I have those files on cds. I also did a LOT of scrapbooking back in the day, because I worked for a few different scrapbooking supply companies and magazines. I feel good that I have everything pretty much in one place. But, that place looks like THIS:
This simply HAS to be condensed and organized better. I have to really sort and be much more selective about what is worth keeping. I want to make sure that my children don’t open this cabinet some day when I’m gone, and have to deal with what is important or sentimental enough to keep. It has moved to the top of my organizational job list!
I am currently doing lots of research to look at all of the options that are available to help me tackle personal photo organization, and fortunately there is lots of help and advice available. I know I’m not the only one dealing with this, so I have decided to document my journey in the hopes that it will help convince you to get your own collection together and organize your family photos! I will make regular posts here and on social media to share my progress as I make decisions about the “how” and begin to get this mess under control. SUBSCRIBE to my blog over there on the lower right sidebar, and you will get a notification every time I update! I’m excited to get this done!
