Last weekend my longtime internet friend Sherri Winstead was able to spend a few days visiting me. Sherri and I have “known” each other since 1998 when we were both worked on a scrapbooking design team, and then as we both moved to professional photography businesses. Our friend Michelle Haley from Atlanta was able to come for a day as well. We spent a lot of time talking about the stress/rewards of photography as a business and making it all balance in terms of profitability versus the sheer number of hours worked and expenses involved. One thing we all lamented was the fact that we don’t shoot “for fun” as much as we’d like. So Sherri and I spent one full day just taking our cameras and shooting in all sorts of locations and lighting conditions – mostly crazy full overhead sun – and fine tuning some techniques such as off-camera flash using each other for feedback ( and models!). Sherri needed some updated images for her website, so I was happy to oblige. Here is my favorite on of her, taken in a clearing under some power lines that is the closest thing to a field that I have nearby – flash used on this one because of the bright sun-
Then we actually did a child photo shoot together, and it was interesting to see what THAT looks like from the perspective of the client! This was one Sherri got of me:
And I did some of her:
And what WE see when we’re doing this-

Hello Sherri! Look at you gorgeous girl. Pam, nice to see you in action. You appear to do it much more gracefully than I do. 🙂
What a lovely time together with friends! Love these action shots and I agree with Dena. I am much less graceful I’m sure!
Oh my goodness, what a wonderful time with some amazing friends/photographers! LOVE these action shots, it’s amazing to be able to see yourself on film like this!! (and of course what adorable subjects in the images as well!)
So fun to see you work together and see the behind the scenes pics so to speak. I would have loved to come and join you. Maybe another year!
I know you learned lot and got tons out of this little get together, if nothing else to share ups and downs and just sit and talk shop!
I look forward to spend some time with you again in September and catch up some.
Love seeing the faces behind the camera!! How fun!
Oh my goodness, you two look so adorable. I love the behind the scenes shots. I also love that you have cyber friends just like I do and that you can come together and talk about the ups and downs of this crazy business.
I hope you have a spare moment to answer this. What is that thing called on your flash? Thank you and great work as always.
