I was able to visit Stacey, David & the granddolls earlier this week. When I arrived, Genna showed me her new bottom teeth and wiggled her loose ones. Gavin gave me a big hug. We played the ladybug game, and Genna knew how to count, take turns, and didn’t cry when she lost. Gavin shared his robots with me. They both went to bed with almost no fuss when it was time, and neither one called out for drinks or other means of trying to get us to come back into their rooms. They fell asleep right away and slept all the way through the night. The next morning they both dressed themselves for school, brushed their teeth without nagging, ate breakfast and trotted off to school. After school I took them to the playground. Genevieve did not want me to push her on the swing because she could do it herself. Gavin pedaled his trike everywhere and didn’t ask to be pushed.

It all made me so happy to see how much they’ve grown up seemingly overnight, and how much easier life is now for their parents.

And it made me…wistful? Sad?

Life is flying by. I hope I’m doing enough to remember these precious days.
