One of the things that I love about photographing high school seniors is that they are so tuned into defining who they are becoming. While they generally are pretty much in line with current styles, they also manage to add their own little twist to whatever is popular at the time. They love to pull their individuality into their senior photographs. One of the reasons that my seniors come to me for their session is that they don’t want their pictures to look like everyone else’s. They don’t want to be photographed standing in front of a window, gazing soulfully out – they want to BE OUTSIDE when they are photographed!
Matt took it a step further – he wanted to be photographed at the beach, where his family has happily vacationed for years. I supported this idea, because this kid has been known as a pretty outstanding high school athlete in both football and baseball. BUT – there is a lot more to him than just sports, and I loved being able to photograph him in a place that wasn’t focused on just that athletic side. I’m so glad we could make it work, because these images of him are just…well, HIM!
If you are interested in high school senior portraits from any of the southwestern PA high schools (such as Fort Cherry, Canon McMillan, Peters Township, Trinity, Avella, Burgettstown, West Allegheny), Mt Lebanon and others), please check out my senior portfolio to see other examples of my work.
