Choosing a date is fairly simple. Just send me an email or give me a call at 724-986-2625, and we can discuss the date that works best for you and also the time. We can work around naps and crazy schedules! Most of my work is in the Lake Keowee/Upstate SC/Highlands/Cashiers NC.
I travel to the southwestern part of Pennsylvania quite regularly, about once a month. I usually know those dates 6 months ahead of time. I am generally there on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday when I drive up. I also drive to the Olney MD/DC area the same weekend, so I am there Sunday late afternoon and Monday on those same weekends. Just give me a call - I'm pretty flexible and I'm sure we can work it out!
Make sure you check out my FAQs and Pricing sections, and Portrait Agreement before you book a session, so that you know how everything works. All photographers do things a little differently, and I want you to be clear about what I provide so that you can be a happy client! When you call to schedule your session, I will need to know whether you want a Sweet Lil' Moments Session or a regular session.
I'm pretty flexible about locations and generally open to travel within a reasonable distance around Lake Keowee. I live right on the lake and have access to quite a few great spots near my home, and most clients prefer to come to me rather than stress over it. I find that most children do better away from their homes - they are a little less apt to run off in a strange location, and they are not distracted by toys and their usual routines.
In Pennsylvania, I generally do my sessions at Mingo Park. It has a wide variety of places to shoot no matter what the season. I also do some at Cecil Park, which is closer to some of my Pittsburgh clients. We can talk about what works best for you. Note that my busiest season is in the Fall, and sometimes I don't have the extra time in my schedule to change locations in order to fit everyone in. In that case I will just do them all at one park.
Clients tend to worry about clothing choices, but there's no need to stress. It's pretty easy. Just pick a color scheme that goes with your home decor (you'll feel better about displaying your family photos if they don't clash with your furniture and accessories) or rely on neutrals. Choose Mom's outfit first, so that it's something you love and feel good in...and then match everyone else to that! The best rule is to dress the family as if they were all part of one outfit.
You can read my WHAT TO WEAR guide to find out more. I am always available for you to bounce ideas off of as well - I'm happy to give my professional opinion!
A day or two prior to our session, I will give you a call or text just to go over exactly where we will meet and directions, what the weather will be, and make sure no one is sick.
As an outdoor photographer, it just goes with the territory that I will occasionally be dealing with uncooperative weather. Amazingly enough, I am rarely completely rained out! Most of the time weather isn't an issue, unless it's raining all day. If it looks like it is going to be a factor, we can discuss whether we want to proceed or not. We can even wait until the last minute to see what happens. Older children and families are usually fine dealing with a bit of sprinkles, and we do have the covered bridges and picnic shelters to work with. Most people generally want to get it done if at all possible since they have committed the time already, and I often have enough flexibility in my schedule to juggle times. I try to schedule most of my sessions on Saturday so we have Sunday as a rain date.
Plan to arrive at your session a little early, so that you can do last minute clothing or hair adjustments. The session will take anywhere from 45 - 90 minutes depending on the number of family members and ages. I try to work very quickly with babies and toddlers, because they don't usually last very long before they have had enough of the process. Bring your $99 session fee (plus sales tax) with you on the day of your session.
Sweet Lil' Moments sessions take 20 minutes, and payment in full is due at the session.
Usually I will have your images edited and ready for viewing within 10 days to 2 weeks. All ordering is done online at your convenience, at a time of your choosing. I am available to answer questions and help you with your decisions at any time, by phone, text, or email. It's pretty straightforward - simply choose one of four collections. You can read all about the specifics in my detailed FAQ section. Payment is expected at the time of the order. I accept cash, checks or credit cards.
When you have placed your order and payment is received, I will send you a link so that you can immediately download your purchased files and start using them! You will receive the USB drive, reference prints and any other items in your collection as soon as I get them back from my professional lab, by mail right to your door. This generally takes about a week to ten days. I provide detailed instructions on how to download and print your files, along with recommended vendors and links to sites with good products for you to have fun with. I am always available to help if you have any problems!
